All gear cutting tools are made from the highest quality high speed steel (H.S.S.) M2 Electro slag remelt bar is used for standard cutters up to 5" (1 25mm)diameter, A.S.P.23 sintered H.S.S. is used for larger sizes. For tools required for very high production or cutting tough materials A.S.P,30 H.S.S. is offered as a recommended alternative.
An extremely high standard of quality control ensures that all manufacturing stages are accurate. At final inspection sophisticated testing instruments are used to check involute, lead, pitch, concentricity and tooth proportions. Graphical records are electronically and computer produced for future reference. A complete report is supplied to the customer with the highest-grade (AA) cutters.

Dathan operate a sharpening service for all
types of shaper cutter.
Examples:- Disc type spur cutters, helical cutters - normal sharpen, helical cutters - lip
& chamfer sharpen and shank type cutters - both helical and spur.
In the case of titanium nitride coated cutters, the complete service is offered, i.e.
resharpen - prepare - handle the recoating - inspect & return to the customer.
