DATHAN is a long established family company producing quality gear cutting tools. We specialise in the manufacture and supply of gear shaper cutters, rack type cutters, straight bevel generating tools, hobs & shaving tools. We also offer a comprehensive sharpening service for all of these products.

The company specialises in the manufacture of cutters required by the automotive, aeronautical and defence industries throughout the world. This capability demands extreme flexibility of manufacture enabling the requirement of any gear producer to be fulfilled in the most efficient way.

Gear cutting tool design and production requires much specialist knowledge which has been acquired and refined over three generations. Computer aided design/manufacture (CAD/CAM) allows rapid assessment of individual cutting requirements and ideal optimisation of all variables for maximum cutter effectiveness. Computer controlled machinery in vital areas of production allow accurate and consistent reproduction direct from design using the CAD/CAM technique.

We hope that the site will give you a clear insight into the company's products and services. The site now also contains a running stock list which is updated weekly. As the site is still under development, it would be worth logging on again soon to check for any new areas. The site will eventually include a wizard to perform pin calculations and a template to aid in ordering cutters.
